Symantec defs not updating
Deleted the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Live Update\Downloads directory (aka renamed it to _Download) and let it create new one on its next pass. Per the directions I see the file being extracted and installed into the: D:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\content\ directory.
Manually downloaded the 32bit virus def's aka vd392e02and installed them into the: D:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\inbox\content\incoming directory.
My interaction with the program has up till now involved just searching for unmanaged computers and installing the client install package.
It's unlikely that I will have much say in what they decide to go with (likely stick with Symantec since it's already in place) but having alternatives to bring to people with buying power would be enormously more helpful than me saying we should switch simply because it's Symantec (even though that's a perfect excuse)hey, SEPM admin here.11 is still being maintained. You should have the latest definitions available to run just in case the liveupdate does not pull down. OK Sudeep, deleting the tmp* folders from the sesmvirdef32/64 directories seems to have done the trick.I had already tried renaming the downloads directory and that by itself did not fix the problem.I have an issue with live update that I am unable to solve and need some assistance. In the C60D directory it starts to create the file get about 95% complete then stops.
